
Scientific name: Echinacea (various species-most commonly used is purpurea)
Possible uses: immune booster, antimicrobial, athlete's foot, yeast infection
Part of plant used: roots, plant itself
Active compounds: Cichoric acid, polysaccharides, alkylamides
Contraindication: Diabetes, AIDs, multiple sclerosis, lupus. or other immune-system disorders

This herbal is mostly used for stimulation of the immune system to decrease the severity of the cold/flu. This is not recommended for patients who are immunocompromised.
