Essential Oils

Essential Oils is an interesting realm that I think totally needs to have their own page to themselves cause it's such a big field.  Below is how I first started on essential oils.

Introduction (doTerra)

Now I can honestly say my experience wasn't all the best.  I attended a workshop that I couldn't really read much up on due to my work schedule.  None the less I thought to give it a go.  I think that it's definitely better to talk with someone in person to start with this versus talking to someone about it.

So after this, I started learning more about the other companies that produce essential oils.  Honestly there's probably no limit on it.  So I hope this page can be service to those who know completely nothing about essential oils and let it be a more in depth and knowledgeable page to them.

Another way of producing essential oil is through steam distillation.  This is where the steam pass through plant material and carry aromatic compounds from the plant into a collection tube in which the essential oil is separated from water.  This is a time intensive process and it's very fragile too.

Expression, also known as cold pressing in which mechanical pressure squeezes the essential oil from the the rind of citrus fruit.

So what are essential oils?

This is a form of extract that involves very high proof of alcohol (recipes that I've seen had 120 proof vodka).  After putting the herb that you want, you strain the vodka from the extract and you have your essential oil left behind.  Other forms of producing essential oils are used.

How can I use essential oil?

Most of the times that I've seen it, essential oils tend to be used in a diffuser, but you can definitely use this topically and internally (one drop or two).  My personal favorite is diffuser just because I like how it helps give the room a scent.

If you want to use your essential oil topically, you do have to get a roller bottle and add carrier oil when you add your essential oil.

If you want to use your essential oil through a diffuser, you have to get a diffuser.  You'll just need a few drops of the essentials oils!

Where can I start?
Kits are idea just because it can allow you to experiment, but it gets super overwhelming, super quick.  Look at your budget and choose a company that's ideal for you.

Following are some infographs that I have found to help explain about some essential oils
