Description: Annual or perennial grasses with flat, slender, fragrant leaves. A hardy perennial grass that forms a dense mounded clump of long narrow leaves. Odorless when green, they release a spicy vanilla fragrance when cut, and dried leaves remain fragrant for years. Spikes of small, yellow, sweet-scented flowers are held above the leaves on 2-ft. stalks in early summer. (The pollen can irritate hayfever sufferers) Zone 4.
How to grow: Full or part sun. Average or damp soil. Propagate by seed or division in spring or fall. Carefree once established.
