Hybrid agastache

Name: Hybrid agastache
Scientific name: Agastache hybrids
Possible uses: tea
Part of plant used: leaves
Description: Perennials with strong upright stems topped with dense spikes of small flowers.  Many species have fragrant leaves.  About 30 species, native to North and Central America and to Asia.  These recently introduced plants are becoming very popular.  They ave wonderfully fragrant leaves and bear colorful flowers, 1-1 1/2 in. long, from June to frost, on stalks about 2 ft. tall 'Firebird' has bright coppery orange flowers.  'Tutti Fruti' has raspberry pink-purple flowers.  There are several more cultivars with different color flowers; hummingbirds love them all.  Hardiness uncertain.
How to grow: Full or part sun.  Ordinary oil.  Pest-free and easy to grow.  Self-sows readily, but the seedlings are easily uprooted.  Good fr meadow or prairie gardens.  Transplant seedlings or propagate by dividing  large clumps in early spring.
