Black Locust Flower Doughnuts

Black Locust Flower Doughnuts
Makes about 24

Ingredients
  • 1 1/3 cup flour
  • 1 ½ teaspoons baking powder
  • ¼ teaspoon salt
  • 2/3 cup milk
  • 1 egg
  •  2 cups black locust flowers, green parts removed
  • Oil for deep frying


Directions
  1. Heat oil to 375 degrees Fahrenheit
  2. Mix the flour with the baking powder and salt
  3. Beat the egg and add it to the milk.  Gently whisk the wet ingredients into the dry ingredients
  4. Fold in the black locust flowers
  5. Fry about 1 Tablespoon of batter for each doughnut, about 30 seconds on each side
  6. Dust with powdered sugar and serve warm
