Introduction to Chinese Medicine

I've started on this book

It will probably the first of many Chinese medicine books that I'll probably be reading over the course of my lifetime.  I thought it would be better to start on a book like this cause original Chinese texts have a lot of theory in it, and I can't read the language (LOL).

So hopefully this introduction page will have more added onto it as I'm reading more books on the topic itself.

Chinese medicine is one of the oldest forms of medicine that was believed to form a couple thousands of years ago.

With introduction of Western medicine to Eastern medicines, the Chinese use the blend of the two forms.

So what is Chinese medicine you may ask?  There's a lot of aspects of Chinese medicine that is can be broken down.

First, the herbal aspect:  the Chinese use herbals mostly as a tea form.  They use different plants to formulate teas based on the needs of the individuals.  Also, there's other forms of herbals that people ingest (ex. root, plant, etc.)
Second, balance of life.  Yes, this is where the Yin and Yang come in, but there's more to it than just that.

What I really think is cool about how the Chinese handle herbals and natural products is that people in the medical field learn the two together and not solely focusing on Eastern or Western medicine.  I hope that Western medicine will accept the fact that if we want to truly understand what's going on with the patient, we'll have to learn both.  What are your thoughts on the whole situation?
